Charges filed in fatal wreck Published 10:32 am Thursday, October 2, 2025Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...COLERAIN – A fatal motor vehicle accident near here early Tuesday morning has resulted in criminal charges. Tyshaun Hayes, age 29 of Blackrock Road, has been arrested for misdemeanor death by motor vehicle following an investigation by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. There, according to a report filed by NCHP Trooper Z. Mize, Hayes was backing an 18-wheeler into his driveway. The trailer of that big rig crossed over into the southbound lane where it was struck by a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck owned by the Fred Smith Company of Raleigh. The impact caused both vehicles to travel off the right side of the road before coming to rest on the shoulder with the pickup truck under the trailer.
