Former Couillard-era Liberal minister Martin Coiteux is back with the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP). In 2014, Coiteux was part of former Premier Philippe Couillard’s economic trio, along with former Finance Minister Carlos Leitao and the late Economy Minister Jacques Daoust. They were often criticized for the budget restrictions imposed by the government at the time—even the current parliamentary leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Marwah Rizqy, asked the party to apologize for this period of fiscal austerity. Coiteux then served as Minister of Public Security and Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy until 2018. He did not run in the 2018 election that brought the Coalition Avenir Québec to power.
