PC Ben Thomas, 37, assaulted the bouncer after he was refused entry to Molly Malone’s pub in Brighton, a misconduct report states. On June 4, PC Thomas appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court where he was found guilty of assault by beating. PC Thomas later appealed against the conviction at Lewes Crown Court claiming he used reasonable force in self defence. However, the court dismissed his appear on September 5. Following his failed appeal a Met Police misconduct panel decided on September 10 that he should be dismissed without notice.
