But a shift toward self-sufficiency is underway, and S&P expects India to account for a third of global capacity additions by 2030. By 2030, India is projected to account for a third of new global petrochemical capacity additions. S&P expects India to overtake the US as the world’s second-largest consumer of polyethylene – one of the most widely used petrochemicals.
