Darren Edmondson's side will take on their fellow Northern Premier League Premier Division side in the third round qualifying. Carlisle United, along with their fellow National League clubs, will join the FA Trophy at the third round proper stage in December. It will be the second time in the Blues' history that they have played in the competition, having reached the fifth round in 2004/05. Workington's best run in the Trophy also saw them reach the fifth round in 1999/2000. Last season they made it to the first round proper before losing to Bamber Bridge.
