A proposal submitted by the Lingholm Private Trust which aims to alleviate traffic congestion around Catbells by the creation of a 150-space car park at Ullock Moss, near Portinscale, with an amenities building and shuttle-bus service is to go before the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) Development Control Committee. The proposal would link the new car park to an existing car park at Cupboard Field, around one mile away, at the foot of Catbells, with a shuttle bus service. The parish council's position was that the car park at Ullock Moss was unnecessary due to a 'decline in visitor numbers' to the Lake District, and that a commercially operated car park would lead to an increase in traffic in the area.
