The Gospel Herald
Michael Tait, longtime Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) artist and frontman of the iconic groups DC Talk and Newsboys, has been accused of sexual misconduct, grooming, and illegal drug use in allegations that span over 20 years.
According to The Roys Report, at least three men have come forward with detailed accounts, claiming that Tait engaged in unwanted sexual contact while they were in vulnerable states—often intoxicated, under the influence, or significantly younger.
One accuser described being offered cocaine on the Newsboys tour bus, while another recalled being fondled by Tait after a late-night skinny-dipping session, followed by further unsolicited advances in bed.
According to The Roys Report, several of these encounters involved alcohol, drugs, and a power dynamic rooted in Tait's spiritual authority and celebrity status.
While investigations continue, the broader CCM community is left reckoning with questions about transparency, leadership, and the cost of silence.
