Hill Country, Texas — July 6, 2025 — A sudden flash flood swept through a Christian summer camp in Texas early Friday morning, leaving 27 girls and one adult counselor initially unaccounted for, with 12 still missing as of Sunday. The flood struck Camp Mystic, a historic Christian girls’ camp located along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, after torrential rain caused the river to rise over 25 feet in less than an hour. Camp Mystic, founded in the 1920s, is known for its Christian teaching, outdoor activities, and multi-generational community. While a flash flood warning had been issued overnight, the rapid onset of the flooding left little time for full evacuation.
