A new housing estate of up to 38 homes could be built on the outskirts of Rookley. Plans have been lodged by Mr and Mrs Isaacson to develop agricultural land at The Lodge, just off Main Road. If approved, the scheme would see 25 homes for the open market, alongside 13 classed as affordable — nine for rent and four for affordable home ownership. Developers say that means 35 per cent of the estate would be “affordable housing,” a figure above the usual policy requirements. They say the development would “sit well with the general shape of the Rookley settlement” and not sprawl awkwardly into the countryside.
