In 2023 and ’24, in 356 attempts as Sean Payton slowly decided Williams was not the right back for the Broncos, he generated 2.7 and 2.8 yards after contact, respectively. Rather than cutting into his path, Williams presses with his blockers, Smith gets an (uncalled) hold on Chris Board, and although Board gets his arms on Williams, he eventually slides off the ride. Numbers don’t tell the whole story here, and I don’t think Williams is suddenly going to be the fifth-best back in the NFL because he broke some tackles these first four weeks.
