Naturally, I wanted one, so I bit the bullet and bought a GMKtek G5 mini-PC, the smallest mini-PC of 2024. I was skeptical at first about how I’d use it for work in place of my laptop, but it’s worked out to be just fine. The mini frequently hits clock speeds of 3.4GHz; it runs all my apps smoothly and silently; and it feels a lot more powerful than my work-issue laptop. The power draw is very small too, only 12W and it also doesn’t heat up like my laptop does. So, if you only need to use your laptop between work and home and don’t need a device for working out and about, consider switching to a mini-PC.
