The Munich Philharmonic, under their Israeli conductor Lahav Shani, had been playing in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein for less than 15 minutes on Saturday when a chorus of shouts of “Free Gaza!” began from the standing area at the rear. A Palestinian flag was unfurled, according to the Vienna daily newspaper “Der Standard.” Security personnel then intervened, the report continued. Then another concertgoer revealed himself to be an activist. A middle-aged man with a hipster beard marched toward the stage and shouted “Freedom for Gaza!” A member of the concert-goers reportedly responded to him in good Viennese dialect with “Go shit!”.’
