It's a flawed yet fascinating film, a solid feature debut from Cairns. The Son and the Sea is directed by filmmaker Stroma Cairns as her feature debut, from a screenplay written by Imogen West and Stroma Cairns. Unfortunately it's a potent reminder how many young men are totally lost and frustrated and have no idea what to do or where to go or how to deal with anything.
