Matt Maltese on ‘Tour For You My Whole Life’

There’s always something electric about the first night of a tour.
On Sept. 16, Matt Maltese, a British-Canadian indie pop singer, performed at Marathon Music Works with piano-driven melancholy, marking the start of his U.S. tour, “Tour For You My Whole Life.” For students like me, tucked into the crowd between midterms and late-night study sessions, the show felt like a rare chance to pause and let someone else narrate our hardships.
When the clock struck 9 p.m., Matt Maltese appeared on stage, opening strong with “Always Some MF,” a song that represents the jealousy and infatuation that comes with long-term relationships.
Then, Maltese abruptly thanks the audience and rushes off the stage, but fans hesitate to leave, cheering for more.
On its first night, Maltese’s “Tour For You My Whole Life” set the tone for the weeks to come.
