Fountain House, which currently stands at 130 Fenchurch Street, was built between 1954 – 1958, making it one of the first tall buildings to be constructed in the City after the Blitz, and the first to use the podium and tower design. But it won’t be with us for much longer as the block will be demolished and new building 130 Fenchurch Street will take its place. Following two rounds of public consultations, a planning application was submitted to the City of London Corporation in July. It’s now been given the green light, so the demolition of Fountain House will begin in 2026 and 130 Fenchurch Street will be completed in 2030.
