Borough planners agreed to the scheme, subject to completion of a legal agreement, to demolish 16 existing studio bungalows, which are no longer fit for purpose. The aim is to build six three-bed and 15 four-bed affordable properties to address the borough’s pressing need for larger council homes. Three of the homes will be fully adaptable for wheelchair access, with flexible features that can be tailored for families with complex needs. In recent years, the existing studio bungalows - which were built in the 1970s - have not been fully occupied. Sme have not been lived in for long periods, due to their size and being outdated and unsuitable for tenants with disabilities.
