Many women experience chronic pain from gynecological conditions but may not seek treatment due to concerns about surgery and recovery. Jacqueline Rohl, MD, and Mini Somasundaram, MD, both experts in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, discussed the benefits of these procedures on a recent episode of The Wellness Conversation. “When we talk about minimally invasive procedures, we're talking about surgeries that are done to small holes or surgery that allow women to get back to their daily activities,” said Dr. Somasundaram. With current minimally invasive techniques, patients often return to normal activities much sooner and with less discomfort. The doctors emphasized that pain does not have to be an accepted part of life for women at any stage.
