Firefighters swiftly extinguished a yacht blaze in Kalkara on Tuesday afternoon, preventing further damage and potential injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 7.30pm at the Kalkara Marina, where a boat moored in the area caught fire, sending a thick plume of black smoke into the air. Eyewitnesses reported hearing an explosion before the vessel was engulfed in flames. The Civil Protection Department responded promptly, deploying fire engines to the scene. The burning boat was towed out of Kalkara Creek to minimise the risk to other vessels and was later moored below Villa Bighi.
