According to Everllence, a significant partnership was established at GasTech 2025 in Milan with ABB, a leader in electrification and automation technologies, alongside OceanWings, renowned for its advancements in wind-assisted propulsion systems. This new concept will leverage the existing DFE+ (Diesel-Electric with variable speed) framework from Everllence and ABB. The urgency to cut emissions due to increasing regulatory demands and financial incentives has made wind-assisted propulsion systems (WAPS) more relevant than ever. The partners are eager to demonstrate how WAPS can enhance the DFE+ system’s capabilities. OceanWings utilizes innovative wingsail technology equipped with Adaptive Trimming features that optimize sail positioning based on each vessel’s specific aerodynamic characteristics.
