Eight people have died following a helicopter crash in the Ashanti region in southern Ghana, including two government ministers and three crew. Edward Omane Boamah, the country’s defence minister, and Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, minister of the environment, science and technology are among the dead, according to multiple reports. The helicopter’s crew were identified as squadron leader Peter Bafemi Anala, flying officer Malin Twum-Ampadu and Sgt. The incident involved a Harbin Z9 helicopter flying from the capital, Accra, to the town of Obuasi, per the BBC. At the time of writing, there was no official word about what may have caused the incident.
