On Thursday, Gordon & MacPhail revealed the decanter design for its Glenlivet 85 Years Old, the world’s oldest single malt scotch whisky.
The vessel, designed by American architect Jeanne Gang, was unveiled Thursday as part of the “Artistry in Oak” project.
The whisky itself — distilled in 1940 and bottled earlier this year — was announced in July.
“It was of utmost importance that the quality of the whisky itself be manifest in the design of the decanter,” Gang said in a news release.
The Glenlivet 85 Years Old was drawn from a single sherry cask, filled in 1940 during wartime shortages.
