Thursday 2 October , 2025 {HMC} A delegation from the European Union, including officials from the European Investment Bank, has conducted an inspection of the Mogadishu Port. The delegation was led by the EU Ambassador to Somalia, Mrs. Francesca Di Mauro, and Mr. Sander Van Kooten, a senior official from the European Investment Bank for Eastern and Southern Africa. Upon their arrival, they were received by the Somali Minister of Finance, Biixi Iimaan Cige, and the Director of the Mogadishu Port, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (America). The presence of a senior official from the European Investment Bank suggests a focus on future financial support or collaboration. The inspection highlights the importance of the Mogadishu Port as a key hub for trade and a critical component of Somalia’s economic recovery.
