AWKA, Nigeria — The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered the immediate rearrest of two robbery suspects who were mistakenly freed due to what authorities described as administrative lapses by a police prosecutor. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in Awka. Ikenga said the directive followed new testimony from victims who identified the suspects as participants in an armed robbery case. The commissioner, Ikenga noted, maintains a “zero-tolerance stance on professional negligence” and stressed that such failures would not be tolerated under his leadership. The statement did not disclose the names of the suspects but assured the public that efforts were underway to ensure their immediate rearrest.
