Both children and adults face 'unacceptable waiting times and patchy support, depending on where they live'There has been a call for “urgency” in delivering ADHD services following a delay in an evaluation aimed at addressing “unacceptable” waiting times for those seeking diagnoses. The Department of Health gave the green light earlier this year to a needs assessment in order to “determine the level of demand” for a commissioned ADHD service across all health trust areas. In his answer, the minister said the findings of the assessment, begun in February, will “help inform options for a commissioned ADHD service across trusts, subject to future budget availability”. “Children and adults living with ADHD are already unacceptable waiting times and patchy support, depending on where they live,” he said. What we need now is urgency, investment and a clear plan to deliver consistent, properly resourced ADHD services across all trust areas.”
