Hudson House at 19 Head Street in Colchester is home to a sports bar and social co-working space managed by the Elysium Group.
The firm also runs Mimosa in Colchester Business Park and other establishments across the city.
In November 2024, the Gazette reported Hudson House went through a major revamp and reopened in May, before submitting an application to turn the upper floors of the premises into a hotel.
The proposal said 10 hotel bedrooms would be built on the first floor, including a central lobby, with six guest rooms that would outlook onto Church Street and Head Street.
