From this month, GP surgeries are required to offer online appointment bookings for non-urgent appointments, medication queries and admin requests. The service has been launched in a bid to improve access to primary care services and help eliminate the 8am rush currently blighting patients and surgeries. Joni Graham, an executive director of the Norfolk and Waveney Local Medical Committee, a body representing GPs in the region, recently shared her concerns with primary care leaders. As of the start of October, all but one surgery in the region had introduced the online system, with bosses launching an audit of 10 practices to identify any issues. Shepherd Ncube, associate director of primary care commissioning at NHS Norfolk and Waveney ICB, said: "It is fair to say that at the moment we are in the information gathering stage."
