How will US government shutdown impact Suffolk airbases?
['Johnny Amos']
Eastern Daily Press | News
The county is home to both RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath, two of the biggest and important US airbases in the country.
As a result, military personnel at Suffolk airbases are currently working without being paid as a result of the US government shutdown.
The shutdown will continue until appropriations are passed in Congress.
This means that some parts of RAF Mildenhall and Lakenheath have been affected.
During a government shutdown, all active-duty personnel must carry out their assigned duties, with their pay delayed until the shutdown is over.
