In recent months, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has granted planning permission for others in Saltburn and Marske, with several locations also in line for the facilities. They are typically hosted in disadvantaged communities where leisure facilities are at a premium, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service. A report, approved by the Labour-led council last year, described how each PlayZone could cost up to £275,000, with the Football Foundation footing 75% of the costs for their design and construction. It said the remaining 25% had been agreed in principle to be met by the council.
