The new development will include 99 additional parking spaces, bringing the total to 148, alongside enhanced facilities such as blue badge bays, electric vehicle charging points, and car club spaces. TfGM identified a need for the expansion of the existing park-and-ride facility at Tyldesley due to several factors. Local non-park-and-ride parking spaces, particularly at the Upper George Street car park, were also being used by commuters, reducing the availability of spaces for shoppers and visitors. The development, which extends to approximately 1.51 hectares, is located adjacent to Astley Street, a low-rise residential area, with the guided busway in the middle of the site. The construction of the new travel hub and park-and-ride scheme must begin within three years as part of the conditions of the approval.
