Its work and the history of the rural community just south of Easton will live on through a new Williams Township Historical Committee established in May by the local government. “Prior to America’s Bicentennial Celebration in 1975-76, little was written about the history of Williams Township, and what was written was buried piecemeal in dusty old books on local library shelves,” according to “The History of History in Williams Township” retrospective provided by Martin. Seeing much more history to be told, the group continued its work in 1977 as the nonprofit Williams Township Historical Society.
