Capitals right wing Ryan Leonard tries to get the puck past Blue Jackets goaltender Jet Greaves during a game in Washington last season. APCOLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets knew 2025-26 was going to be the time for Jet Greaves when they gave him a new deal in July 2024. “If you watch the game, he’s very controllable,” Blue Jackets president and GM Don Waddell said at the team’s media luncheon in September. But the important thing for the Blue Jackets is they don’t need Greaves to be elite, especially right away. Ultimately, the Blue Jackets’ goaltending has not been up to par since their last playoff appearance in 2020.
