Press freedom under threat as intelligence operatives target reportersThe Media Liaison Committee (MLC) has issued a forceful condemnation of recent attacks on journalists by operatives linked to the Office of the President (OP), demanding immediate disciplinary and legal action against those responsible.
This situation raises serious concerns about press freedom in Zambia.
“Time and again, the MLC, together with other media freedom advocacy organisations, has voiced concerns over continued harassment, intimidation and attacks on journalists by law enforcement officers.
This must end forthwith,” he said, highlighting the critical need to safeguard press freedom.
“To the law enforcement officers: journalists are not your enemies but colleagues in serving the public,” Kabwe said.
