Dearness Allowance (for employees) and Dearness Relief (for pensioners) are revised twice a year, in January and July, to compensate for inflation. The Union Cabinet has approved a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central government employees and pensioners. A government employee earning a basic salary of Rs 30,000 will get an extra Rs 900 per month. Final Hike Under 7th Pay CommissionThis 3% hike is expected to be the last revision under the 7th Pay Commission. The 8th Pay Commission is likely to come into effect from January 2026, paving the way for a broader review of pay and pension rules.
