The Australian footballer on a mission to make the game accessible to allLegally blind teen Charlotte Dougherty turned her Matildas-inspired dream into reality and is now leading the push for inclusive football in Australia, writes Kevan Sangster. She contacted the development officer for Blind Football Australia to find out how she could get involved. Charlotte said:“I’ve always been a football fan, but didn’t really know blind football existed until a couple of years ago." Having been chosen to represent her country in Women’s blind football, Charlotte and her teammates set off to compete in an international competition in Japan late last year. They performed well enough to qualify for the World Cup Grand Prix for Blind Football in May this year — also in Japan.
