It’s the start of a new chapter on Horse Market as the Old Barnard Castle Curiosity Shop has closed its doors. The popular gift shop started life on The Bank in partnership with David Harper’s antique shop in 2021 before moving into the town centre a year later. For business owners Tim and Angela Baitson, opening a shop was something of a leap of faith – but they’ve greatly enjoyed the experience. “After about a year we had the opportunity to move into the town centre,” Mr Baitson recalled. “We’ve seen the footfall changing, the demographic changing,” Mr Baitson added.
