Castle book & Card Centre in Castlebar was chosen for the list, alongside Charlie Byrne’s bookshop in Galway, and Liber bookshop in Sligo. The award category is desgined to acknowledge the significant role played by independent bookshops in helping their communities find and savour books of their choice. There has been a previous winner from the province, with Kenny’s Bookshop and Art Gallery in Galway scooping the award in 2021. Customers around the country are asked to vote for their favorite bookshops, with those receiving the most votes then long listed.
