Between July and September, environmental health officers visited food premises across the borough, handing out ratings based on food handling, cleanliness and safety standards. Two businesses were given a hygiene score of 1, meaning major improvement is necessary, while two others were rated 2, which indicates that some improvement is needed. The ratings follow inspections by Sutton Council under the Food Standards Agency’s national scheme. Scores range from 0 — requiring urgent improvement — to 5, which reflects very good hygiene standards. The rating does not reflect food quality, customer service or presentation, but focuses purely on hygiene, cleanliness and food safety management.
