Civil War cannons, camp music, and mourning rituals are set to bring the past to life this weekend in Geneva. Visitors will step into the 1860s on Saturday, Oct. 4, during Civil War Day at Rose Hill Mansion. Inside the Greek Revival mansion, reenactor Nancy Krasanski will portray a Confederate widow and explain the mourning customs of the era. “It is a great opportunity in the perfect setting to learn about the life of a soldier during the Civil War,” said Reynolds’ Battery event coordinator Ave Bauder. “The Mansion decorated in period mourning is particularly fascinating.”Admission is free thanks to a grant from the Nelson Delavan Foundation.
