Will Shu, founder and chief executive of Deliveroo, will step down once the company’s £2.7bn takeover by US rival DoorDash completes next month. Shu said his decision to leave came after 13 “intense and amazing” years: “Taking Deliveroo from being an idea to what it is today has been amazing. Deliveroo will leave the stock exchange just four years after listing. Alongside rapid growth, Deliveroo has faced scrutiny over working conditions for riders and allegations that undocumented workers were operating under false accounts. The takeover is expected to complete next month, with executives in San Francisco setting the future strategy.
