The parkrun, much like its counterparts around the world, is a free event open to everyone. At Whitekirk Hill, a small team led by Bill Brown oversees the weekly proceedings, with volunteers stepping in for roles such as marshalling, timekeeping and barcode scanning. The Whitekirk Hill parkrun team is keen to see more involvement from the community, welcoming new faces to their "merry gang". Children aged between four and 14 have their own 2km parkrun at the Archerfield Walled Garden junior parkrun every Sunday at 9.30am. Starting three years ago, the junior event too often attracts more than 100 participants.
