Venture sees Kaikohe Berryfruit lease its 10ha site for nine and a half years to grow premium blueberries and strawberries for the domestic and export marketsT&G Fresh and Ngāpuhi-owned Kaikohe Berryfruit have announced a joint venture to expand berry operations in Te Taitokerau Northland. Rod Gibson, managing director of T&G Fresh, said the venture would bring significant benefits to both organisations and the local community. Ngāpuhi Asset Holding Company chair Nick Wells said the partnership was the result of last year’s strategic reset of Kaikohe Berryfruit. “Blueberries, in particular, are a significant growth category for T&G Fresh, with established operations in Northland and Queensland, Australia,” Gibson said. T&G Fresh will provide T&G Kaikohe Berryfruit Limited Partnership with orchard contracting services and serve as the exclusive sales agent as part of the agreement.
