Actress and author Victoria Rowell, here speaking at the Brickhouse Art Gallery in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood, had a lot to say about the television soap opera industry. When she touched on the subject of racism in the television soap opera industry, the more than 200 people at the Guild were all ears. Before she left the show, Ms. Rowell was fined one day’s work for missing a show. “Tatyana Ali (who played on the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”), for example, hardly worked on Y&R,” Ms. Rowell said. Ms. Rowell said her goal is to continue to break down the walls of racism in the industry.
