Scottish fields benefit from downpours as nights draw in and wheat is sown

Wheat prices continue to be depressed under the pressure of oversupply.
Its harvest has been revised upwards by 10% compared to August’s estimate and it is projecting a wheat harvest of 21.9Mt and 30.3Mt of maize.
BarleyThe tonnage of failed malting barley, either for high nitrogen or screenings, is putting Scottish feed barley prices under severe pressure and the discount between Scottish feed wheat and barley prices continues to widen.
An increase in UK rapeseed production in 2025 may lead to fewer imports during the 2025-26 season.
This follows the current estimate for the UK wheat harvest of 12.2Mt, which would be an increase of 10% on last year’s crop, but would be 12% lower than the 10-year average.
