RED HOOK, N.Y. – Village trustees have hired retired state Trooper Mark DelPozzo to round out the fourth slot of village police personnel to be a Red Hook school district resource officer. “A lot of our school resource officers are retired men and women of agencies (where) they’ve got over 20 years of experience and training,” Lt. Patrick Hildenbrand said. Information was not immediately available on the salary for the position, but the village is being paid $182,500 by the school district for coverage during the 2025-26 village fiscal year. There’s no prop doors, there’s no doors open, there’s one entrance. An example of being extra observant includes an incident in March when Officer David Schmitz saved a 12-year-old middle school student from choking in the cafeteria.
