Police Officer Dies Days After Hit-and-RunPolice Constable Karen August passed away at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) today after she was a victim of a hit and run on the George Price Highway. August, attached to the San Ignacio Police Formation, sustained severe injuries in the crash that occurred between miles 68 and 69 on Sunday, September 7. She had just completed her shift at the Kontiki Substation and was heading home to Succotz Village when the accident took place. Her colleague, Constable Kurlyn Hamilton, also received head injuries, arm cuts, and abrasions to his elbows and face. On September 12, police formally arrested and charged 31-year-old Dijon McNab, a San Ignacio businessman, in connection with the incident.
