The Sigered, King of Essex, will open in Basildon on Tuesday October 14 and has been billed as a significant boost to the town centre’s hospitality landscape. The firm has stated that 40 jobs are likely to be created through the opening of the pub. Estimated to cost Wetherspoon around £2.85 million, the new pub will replace the former Poundworld on East Walk. It will be the first time residents have been able to enjoy the popular chain since the former Moon on the Square pub closed in 2022. That site is now central to Basildon Council’s efforts to regenerate the town centre with a series of housing and commercial developments.
