Ambulance dispatchers determine how serious a call is based on the information they receive from an emergency caller, but it isn’t always reliable. Calls that previously would have gotten no Delta ambulance because all paramedics were occupied can now get a basic-level ambulance, which Mitchell said would cover 57% of the service’s calls.
