WATERVILLE — A Waterville man who was struck by a car Friday night while reportedly sitting in the street has died from his injuries. Waterville police Maj. Jason Longley said Monday that it appeared a Mazda being driven south on Elm Street by Thomas Hayes, 70, of Oakland struck Meserve, who was sitting in the road wearing dark clothing. On Tuesday, Longley said police got word Monday evening that Meserve died earlier in the day from his injuries. Longley said he did not know whether Meserve had died at the hospital or what his injuries were. Police still do not know why Meserve was sitting in the road before being struck, he said.
