The University of Michigan’s Senate Assembly met Monday afternoon at the Alexander G. Ruthven Building for the first meeting of the 2025-2026 academic school year. They introduced new faculty members to the Assembly, voted on committee charges and discussed a resolution concerning the Presidential Search Advisory Committee. “SACUA has no objections to any member of the search committee,” Peterson said. Assembly members questioned if the requests for faculty government representation were reasonable compared with other universities. Assembly members then reviewed the issue of campus surveillance and the University’s involvement with City Shield Security Services, a Detroit-based security company.
