But at the University of Michigan Museum of Art’s installation “Table Manners,” visitors are actively encouraged to eat their lunch at the museum. Open through Jan. 4 in the Irving Stenn, Jr. Family Gallery, the installation by British-Nigerian artist Zina Saro-Wiwa invites visitors to sit and virtually share a meal with people across the Atlantic. Saro-Wiwa told The Daily that for her, “Table Manners” is about reclaiming stories about the Ogoni people of her homeland. “I called it ‘Table Manners’; People think it’s about manners, it’s actually not,” Saro-Wiwa said.
